A letter from the Nelson's, family of homicide victim, Bob Nelson
On July 6, 1999 my husband Bob and I would have celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. Instead I had to accept the news that someone had senselessly taken away our lives together. My children had to accept that they had lost their best friend and father and all of this happened 3,000 miles away, while he was trying to make an honest living. Our hopes, dreams and the love of our lives, taken away by a stranger.
It is so ironic that a stranger should now walk into our lives. The Carole Sund/ Carrington Memorial Reward Foundation stepped right in by posting a reward of $10,000 for the person/persons responsible for robbing our lives. When all else was taken away from us, the foundation offered us hope and support. After all, this was not a child that was missing, or a young person starting their life and being cheated of experiencing the joys of life itself. This was a 59 year old truck driver, who lived a full life. However, this foundation realized that "our Life" was so brutally taken from us. They came to our rescue when we felt like we were alone. They saved us from being forgotten victims and reinforced that Bob's life mattered. To our angel of hope, we are forever grateful.
